Joan E. Stieber

Joan E. Stieber 73, Wausau, died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at her home. She was born November 19, 1934 in Wausau, daughter of the late Clarence and Lucille (Hench) Lang. On October 8, 1955 she married Melvin Stieber at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1995. Joan worked as a realtor. She organized 22 pilgrimages to EWTN. She also owned and operated the Sharing Center Catholic Book Store and was most generous in donating many books to priests and seminarians both locally and around the world. Survivors include her sister, Beverly Foss, Wood Dale, Ill.; two nephews, Patrick (Michelle) Foss, Villa Park, Ill. and Michael Foss, Lyons, Ill.; two nieces, Sherry (William) Black, Quincy, Ill. and Rachael (Steve) Miller, Jackson, Wyo.; brother-in-law, Harley (Barbara) Stieber, Wausau; sister-in-law, Shirley Seehafer, Wausau; aunts, Dolores Lang, Marathon, Irene Kluck, Appleton, Jeanette Kyle, Wausau, Viola Lang, Wausau, Stella Cortright, Green Bay, Isabelle Misudek, Edgar, Irene Lang, Wausau and Evelyn Lang, Marywood, Ill.; uncles, Fred (Patricia) Lang, Wausau and Ernest Pozorski, Wausau. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Melvin. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. The Rev. Keith Apfelbeck and the Rev. Gerald Pehler O.F.M. Cap. will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the caregivers of TLC for seniors along with her many friends especially Nancy Sondelski, Colleen Buss, and Gary Kurtzweil for their wonderful care given to Joan.
