Joan Schmidt

Joan Schmidt 66, 1816 N. Third Street, Wausau, died Monday morning April 7, 2003 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital, with her family at her side. She was born June 17, 1936 in Chicago, daughter of the late Hugo and Leona (Wallberg) Pagenkopf. She married John Schmidt of Marinette, Wisconsin in 1957. He survives. Joan worked for the Chicago School District for 15 years, Joan and John raised their family in Chicago for the first 20 years. The family then moved to Wausau in 1977. Joan was employed with the Wausau School District from 1979 to 1990 as an Administative Secretary. She loved her years with the school district. Among her favorite pasttimes were, playing cards, painting and winter vacations in Florida. Survivors include her husband, John Schmidt, Wausau, her children, Lorrie Stahl, Wausau; Vicky Tesmer, Chicago; Gail (Bruce) Baeten, Oshkosh, five grandchildren, Michele Stedman, Kristina Stahl, Meredith Glass, Jennifer and John Baeten; one great-grandchild, Hayden Stedman, two sisters, Kathy Scopel, Antioch, Calif., and Sharon Belanger, Green Bay. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday April 11, 2003 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Greg Billberg will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Marinette, Wisconsin. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Elaine Seeman and her many friends for their love and support through the years. Joan was dearly loved and will be truly missed by her family and friends.
