Joan Bickford Mcgivern

Joan Bickford McGivern 76, 1134 S. 17th Avenue, Wausau, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, May 23, 2007 peacefully at her home. She was born January 20, 1931 in Wausau, daughter of the late Stanley and Alma (Reuter) Bickford. On November 4, 1950 she married Patrick McGivern in Wausau. He preceded her in death February 16, 1984. Joan retired in 1995 from Wausau Steel Corporation after 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Patrick's Circle at St. Matthew's parish, was an avid reader, loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Robert) Vanney, St. Paul and Sandra (Allen) Fletcher, Merrill; sons, Andrew (Jeana) McGivern, Daniel McGivern and Patrick McGivern, all of Wausau; five grandchildren, Aaron (Lauren) Vanney, Chicago, Elizabeth Vanney, California, Justin McGivern, Madison, Amber Fletcher, St. Paul and Shawn Fletcher, Merrill; one brother, Roger (Gerry) Bickford, Wausau, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four sisters, Shirley, Audrey, Emily and Iris; and five brothers, Roland, Stanley, Ray, Leon and Ronald. The funeral mass will be celebrated noon Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be at the church from 10 am Tuesday until the time of services.
