Joan Ruth Heiting

Joan R. Heiting, 94, Wausau, formerly of Marshfield, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.

She was born June 26, 1932 in Marshfield, daughter of the late Ervin and Frances (Schwantes) Trierweiler. On June 23, 1951, she married Gerald Heiting in Marshfield. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1987.

Joan was a homemaker most of her life and raised nine children. After her children were grown, she worked in the History Research Center at Wausau West High School for 10 years. She was a longtime member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Wausau, where she enjoyed volunteer work for many church functions and activities. Once every month, Joan joined her “Holub Street Neighbors” for lunch and fellowship at various local restaurants.

Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, visiting with her grandchildren and attending her great-grandchildren’s sporting events. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include, seven children, Steven (Susan) Heiting, Mark Heiting, Jeff (Beth) Heiting, John (Wendy) Heiting, Sandra Heiting, Julie (Gerald) Constable and Lori Heiting; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Gerald, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Heiting; son, Tim Heiting; and three siblings, Elaine (Joe) Fleisner, Ellen (Dave) Huber and James (Patricia) Trierweiler.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield (located just west of Marshfield Medical Center). A celebration of Joan’s life will follow from 11:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Nutz Deep II, 809 S. Central Avenue, Marshfield.
