He was born July 15, 1952 in Wausau, son of the late John B. and Helen (Ziebell) Schlaefer.

In the early years, he enjoyed time with his daughters camping, boating and fishing in the Northwoods and their annual trips to Panama City Beach, Fla. Other favorite pastimes included playing cards, watching his favorite television shows with his cat "Dodger" by his side, seeing his grandchildren grow and attending as many Green Bay Packer games as possible, since he was a die-hard Packer fan.
Survivors include, two daughters, Jen (Wendy Woller) Schlaefer, Wausau and Nicki (Phil) Binkley, Rib Mountain; three grandchildren, Madison, Halen and Orrin Binkley; one brother, Jack (Sandy) Schlaefer, Three Lakes; one sister, Karen (Jack) Mielke, Wausau; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
