Jill J. Blaskowski

Jill J. Blaskowski, 75, Wausau, died Monday, July 18, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born March 24, 1941 in Wausau, daughter of the late Roland and Dorothy (Yunkherr) Bickford. She married Florian "Fritz" Blaskowski on December 5, 1959. He survives. Jill loved her role as a homemaker and stay at home mom. In her later years, she worked part-time at McDonald's where she enjoyed the work and made many friends. She was a longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was very active in many church activities, including the PCCW. Jill also spent many hours as a volunteer at church, the school and as a communion distributor. Among some of her favorite pastimes, she liked cooking, knitting, canning, making quilts, jigsaw puzzles and playing cards. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Survivors include, her loving husband of 57 years, Florian "Fritz" Blaskowski, Wausau; four children, Julie (Michael) Kwarciany, Wausau, Tony Blaskowski, Wausau, Bob (Kathleen) Blaskowski, Appleton and Mary (Patrick) Metzinger, Wausau; eight grandchildren, Daniel and David Kwarciany, Sydney, Leah, Charlie and Grace Blaskowski; and John and Andrew Metzinger; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Keska, John Blaskowski, Mary Jane Burish, Butch (Judy) Blaskowski and Ted (Sue) Blaskowski; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Metzinger; one granddaughter, Kate Metzinger; and one sister, Karen Bickford. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2016 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Schaller will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, especially the staff on the Palliative Care Unit, the staff on the ICU Cardiac Care Unit and the staff of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the wonderful care and support for Jill.
