Jerry Berard

April 23, 1919 — February 15, 2005

Jerry Berard, 85, of Wausau died Tuesday, February 15, after a long battle with lung cancer under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. He was born April 23, 1919 in Wausau, son of the late Signe and William Berard. He married Annabelle Kickbusch on June 12, 1942. She preceded him in death in 1999. Upon his retirement from Standard Oil, Jerry managed the Marathon County Humane Society for twenty four years. He was actively involved in the Wausau Boot and Saddle Club as well as the Race Director of the United States Snowmobile Association. He is survived by five children: Virgene Kramer, Grafton, Judy (Jeff) Zilisch, Ringle, Linda (John) Gesicki, Rothschild, Bonnie (Bruce) Beyersdorff, Wausau, Jon (Kathy) Berard, Hudson; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor ( Chub) VanDerGeest, Merrill, and Lorraine (Bud) Holster, Wausau. Besides his parents, one brother, Jack Berard, preceded in death. The funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2005 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Stephen Gross will preside. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. until the time of services Friday at the Sixth Street funeral home. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
