Jerome "Jeff" Writz
78, Tomahawk, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Tomahawk.
He was born February 1, 1932 in Athens, son of the late Stanley and Eleonora (Myszka) Writz.
Jeff served his country in the United States Army and worked many years as an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with his family and gardening, especially flowers.
Survivors include his awesome sweetheart, Mary Lou Eggebrecht, Tomahawk; four children, Steven (Christine) Writz, Elk Mound, Scott Writz, Northfield, Minn., Vicki (Curt) Oppegaard, London, England and Kelly (Lonny) Davis, Chaska, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Kris) Bertelsen, Adam Writz, David Writz, Marie (fiancAC. Ryan Miller) Writz, Tyler Davis, Holli Davis, Connor Writz and Sydney Writz; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Elizabeth; he also leaves behind his former wife, Kathleen "Kitty" Writz and his second family, Mary's children, Debbie (Chuck) Karlen, Rhonda (Duey) Boettcher and Renee (Wayne) Cottrell and their children, Steven (Laura) Karlen, Bradley Karlen, Cameron Karlen, Sabrina Roth, Scott Roth, Rachel Roth, Garrett Cottrell, Cale Cottrell and Alicia Cottrell; and a great grandson, Peter; four siblings, Bernice Passehl, Leona Jurkowski, Raymond (Jan) Writz and Daniel (Mary) Writz; two sisters-in-law, Elmira Makowski and Margaret Writz and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Florian Writz, Benjamin "Jack" Writz, Regina Nizzi, Stanley Writz, Margaret Stubler and infant Michael Writz.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. The Very Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a rosary service 7 p.m. Friday at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Islam and his staff at the Oncology Center in Weston for their compassionate care given to Jeff.
