Jerome "Jerry" A. Scheibl, 83, Wausau, died Saturday, July 26, 2014.
He was born October 5, 1930 in Sheboygan, son of the late Emaniel and Marie (Schwaller) Scheibl. On October 6, 1962, he married Marlene Howe at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls. She preceded him in death on May 15, 2009.
Jerry attended Central High School in Sheybogan and graduated with the class of 1948. He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned his BBA Degree in 1956 and his MBA Degree in 1957.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Air Force from 1951 until 1955, attaining rank of Staff Sergeant. He was based at the US Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH until 1952, based at the Headquarters, Far East Air Forces in Tokyo, Japan until 1954 and based at the Purchasing and Contracting Office in Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City, SD until 1955.
For many years, Jerry worked for the Office of Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Wisconsin and as Vice President for the Wausau Insurance Company until his retirement in July of 1994.
He was Past President of the Casualty Actuarial Society from 1980 until 1981, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, 1992 Recipient of the Jarvis Farley Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service to the Actuarial Profession, American Academy of Actuaries, a member of the Actuarial Board for Counseling and Discipline from 1991 until 1997 and was a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter.
Jerry was a member of the Wausau Country Club, Past President and member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club, Life Member of the Wausau Elks Lodge No. 248 and a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau.
Survivors include, his sister, Jean Tiemeyer, Scottsdale, AZ; and five nephews.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at The Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, with full military honors conducted by the American Legion, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be an Elks Lodge of Sorrow Service Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. conducted by the Wausau Elks Lodge No. 248, Wausau.
