Jerome "Jerry" Meyer

Jerome "Jerry" Meyer, 77, Wausau, died Friday June 27, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born July 7, 1936, in Saulk Rapids, Minn., son of the late Alfred and Hulda Meyer. The Meyer's moved to Schofield in 1941 and Jerry was a High School graduate of D.C. Everest. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. 52 years ago, he married Eunice Viegut at St. John Lutheran Church on County Hwy. N, Town of Wein, Edgar. Prior to his retirement, Jerry had been employed for 25 years at Wausau Insurance Companies and had also been a ginseng farmer. As an active member of Rib Mountain Lutheran Church, Jerry served on the church council and sang in the choir. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and spending time with family, especially the granddaughters. Survivors include his wife, Eunice, two sons, Mark and Michael, two granddaughters, Chelsey and Allex, one great grandson, Scott; three brothers, William (Iris), Robert (Jen) and Richard (Jane);six sisters, LaVera Umerski, Helen Anklam, Marlene (Frank) Kraft, Shirley Rentmeester, Dorothy Polley and Paulette (Perry) Scheel;many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, his father and mother-in-law and one brother-in-law. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday July 1, 2014 at Rib Mountain Lutheran Church. Vicar Timothy Swanson and Rev. Raymond Connor will officiate. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Rib Mountain Lutheran Church.
