Jeffrey D. Corbin, 67, of Rib Mountain, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 5th, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born September 20th, 1949 in Gary, Indiana, the second son of Hannah (Evans) Corbin and the late Duane Corbin. At age 13, Jeff was proud to be the state marbles champion and made the cover of the Milwaukee Journal. Jeff was a 1967 graduate of Wausau East High School. Jeff served as a member of the Armed Services in the National Guard. On October 14th, 1972, he married his high school sweetheart, Cathy Hussong, in Wausau.
Jeff started his career in 1967 at the former Wausau Insurance, which became Nationwide Insurance, followed by Liberty Mutual. Following a promotion to Kansas City, Missouri as Data Center Operations Manager, Jeff retired from Liberty Mutual after 44 years of service. He was an avid sports fan and competitor who enjoyed golfing and playing softball for many years on various teams in the Wausau area. Jeff was a people person who had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. If Jeff was in the room there was laughter. Whether he was shooting pool, critiquing a sports event on TV, or having family dinner he was the entertainment. Watching a Packer game with Jeff became an event. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his granddaughters.
Besides his father, Duane, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cyrus and Sharon Hussong.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy, Rib Mountain; his mother, Hannah Corbin, Rib Mountain; children: Christopher (Terrie) Corbin, Mosinee, Ben (Sarah) Corbin, Neenah and Rob Corbin, Oshkosh; granddaughters, Hannah and Ava Corbin, both of Neenah; step-grandsons, Scotty (Kacee) Chittum, Stevens Point, and Jacob (Melissa) Chittum, Weston; step-grandchild, Kashton Chittum, Stevens Point.
