Janice Joyce Straub, age 77, passed away peacefully at Wausau Manor on March 28, 2015 after more than 60 years of Type I Diabetes.
She was born September 9, 1937 in Wausau, daughter of the late Leonard and Minnie Urmanski. In 1955 she graduated from Wausau High School. She worked at Sears for 11 years and also for the Wausau School District. On July 18, 1975 she married James Straub Sr. Janice worked alongside Jim in restaurants, motels and apartments.
She was best known for her pets, which included Shetland Sheep Dogs, Poodles, Dachshunds, Cockatoos, Macaws, African Grays, and Pot Belly Pigs. She had a special devotion to St. Jude, her favorite charity was St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, James, her brother, Gerald and his children, Ann and Eric Urmanski, all of Atlanta, GA; seven step-children, Peggy, John, Jim Jr., Alan, Carolyn, Kathy and David.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her step mother, Arlene.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, nurses and staff at Benedictine Manor, Wausau, staff at Copper Leaf Assisted Living, Marathon, and the nurses and staff at Wausau Manor, all of which have made Janice's last four months comfortable.
