Janet G. Van Rixel

Janet G. Van Rixel, 80, Rib Falls, died Friday, January 27, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born August 6, 1936 in Schofield, daughter of the late George and Alice (Rhyner) Raasch. On May 16, 1964 she married Thomas Van Rixel at St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. He survives. Janet was an avid Packer fan, enjoyed crosswords, putting together puzzles, playing online games and taking an occasional trip to the casino. Her faith was very important to her and she attended church often. Above all, she loved her family and cherished the time spent with them. Survivors include her husband, Tom; children, Alicia Madison, Jason (Cindy) Van Rixel, Janeen (Chris) Codden, Mark (Rebecca) Van Rixel, Vincent (Jennifer) Van Rixel, Stacy (Daniel) Bornbach and Gabriel (Janine) Van Rixel; 21 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Janet's name.
