Janet Johnson, 84, of Wausau, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2025,
She was born February 4, 1941 in Wausau, WI, daughter of the late Harold and Evelyn Kumerow. On August 24, 1963 she married her high school sweetheart Leonard Johnson at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. They were blessed with 57 wonderful years filled with love and memories.
Janet was a loving wife, mother (Mumsie), grandma, sister and friend. She graduated from Wausau Senior High School in 1959 and Saint Mary’s School of Nursing in Madison WI in 1962. She started her career with St. Mary’s, Wausau Hospital North as a pediatric nurse, then continued her career of 51 years with Wausau Hospital Center, Community Health Care and then Aspirus with various roles – 21 years of those representing as Patient Representative, she was always an advocate for those that needed it. Janet was also a member of the State and National Society for Patient Representation and Consumer Affairs. Along with her other many achievements, she was a Distinguished Member of the Professional Achievement Program on the National Level.
Janet was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church for 60 years. She loved singing show competitions (America’s Got Talent being her favorite), Holidays (especially Christmas), coffee with her friends, but what she loved most was her Family. She loved and she enjoyed every opportunity to be with them sharing and making memories.
Survivors include her son Patrick (Tammy) Johnson, daughter Sarah Johnson, granddaughters Kelsey (Andrew) Cazee, Emily (Ryan) Boyer, and six great-grandchildren – Khloe, Bentley, Harper, Kinslee, Kamden and Makenna. Her sister Marilyn (Robert) Groshek and brother Thomas (Denise Mierow) Kumerow,. Along with niece Laura (Robert) Wood, nephews Jeff (Linda) Groshek, Matt (Sarah) Kumerow and Christopher (Kari) Kumerow; along with many life-long friends.
Besides her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband Leonard.

The family wants to thank all of the caregivers at Primrose Assisted Living and Rennes Rehab facility for the compassionate care they extended to Janet.
