Jane Miranda (Hellrood)

January 15, 1946 — April 19, 2025

On April 19th, Mary Jane Miranda—a devoted Christian, mother, grandmother, wife, and friend—was called home to God at the age of 79.

Jane was born on January 15, 1946, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, to Milton and Mary Landrum. The family later relocated to Wausau, Wisconsin, where she met her husband, Richard Hellrood. Together, Richard and Jane had two children, Bonnie and Jim.

Jane lived her life primarily as a mother and homemaker, and she was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed sewing, singing, writing short stories and poems, refinishing furniture, decorating, and traveling. She even published three books and operated her own singing telegram and balloon decorating business, all while doing the bookkeeping for Richard’s company, Mid State Ice and Water Services. Jane survived cancer at the age of 36, though she lost her beautiful singing voice in the process.

When Richard passed away in 1997, Jane spent her time helping others who were dealing with grief. She became a volunteer hospice worker, organized grief support groups and started a widows’ club. She traveled with the widows’ club which sparked her love of traveling and seeing God’s creations. Jane later met Robert Miranda of Houston, a missionary. They married in 2005 and together, they traveled the world, spreading the Word of God.

The daughter of a missionary, Jane was a devoted Christian. She was an active member of both the Mountain View Church of Christ in Wausau and the Northwest Church of Christ in Houston. Nothing was more important to Jane than her relationship with God.

Jane is held in the hearts of her husband, Robert Miranda of Houston, TX; her children, Bonnie (Mark) Gauerke and Jim (Lori) Hellrood of Wausau, WI; her sister, Nancy (Ed) Berta of Negaunee, MI; and her grandchildren: Rebekah (Blake) Swope, Darcey (Eric) Becker, Andrew (Alexa) Zich, Rachel (Blake) Backes, and Meghan (Brett) Schafer, all of Wausau, WI. She leaves a lasting legacy through her great-grandchildren, whom she was blessed to know: Aria and Odin Swope, Avery and Luke Schafer, Willow Backes, Lincoln Zich, and Olivia Becker.

Welcoming her at heaven’s gates are her first husband, Richard Hellrood; her parents, Milton and Mary Landrum; and her brother, Wallace Landrum.

Jane was also blessed with a loving extended family through marriage, including Cynthia (Julio) Cedeño, Vince (Ginney) Miranda, Julio David Cedeño, Luis (Allie) Cedeño, Amanda (Jason) Nitsch, Abby Miranda, Alex (Carioca) Marins, Maya Marins, and Anthony Miranda.

Jane’s family is comforted in knowing she is walking with her Lord and Savior, singing His praises once again. As her favorite hymn states, “This world is not my home.”
