James F. Wiesman

James F. Wiesman, 87, Wausau died peacefully while holding his wife's hand Friday, March 13, 2015 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. He was born May 28, 1927 in the town of Cleveland, son of the late Fred and Theresa (Schoenfuss) Wiesman. On September 11, 1948 he married Irene Weisenberger at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. She survives. As a young man Jim started his working career as a cheesemaker and then went on to work at Silcrest in Wausau. From there his passion of home construction landed him at Wausau Homes for more than 31 years. He enjoyed building homes so much he built all four of his homes and was instrumental in building his son Ken's home in Rib Mountain. Jim lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time up north, taking the grandkids fishing, bowling, watching NASCAR, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, playing Smear and sheep's head and feeding the birds and backyard critters in his yard. Jim and Irene loved listening to the Sunday morning polkas. He was a member of the Men's Club at St. Matthew Catholic Church and was also proud to have been an usher there for more than 35 years. Jim will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor and the willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Survivors include his wife, Irene Wiesman, Wausau, his children, Jan (Tom) Wetterneck, Schofield, Linda (Steve) Hill, St. Paul, MN, Ken (Mary) Wiesman, Rib Mountain and Brenda (Steve Collins) Wiesman, Wausau, 11 grandchildren, Dr. Tosha (David) Wetterneck-Brenneis, Dr. Chad (DeeDee) Wetterneck, Tanya (Michael) Phelan, Kevin (Jan) Beilke, Mitch Hill, Katie (Matthew) Bacon, Jesse, Ryan and Brett Wiesman, Josh Goretski and Tracer Collins, 10 great grandchildren, his brother, Joseph (Elaine) Wiesman, Wausau, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wiesman, Merrill and Rita Wiesman, Marshfield and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Paul, Mark, Ray, Mary, Josephine, Rose, Clare, Victor, Eleanor and Wilbert. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Stewart Avenue funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
