James A. Whitney

James "Jim" A. Whitney, 90, Wausau, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at Cedar Creek Manor, Kronenwetter. He was born December 24, 1924 in Duluth, Minn., son of the late Otho and Vivian (McLean) Whitney. On April 2, 1949, he married Marilyn Mueller in Ironwood, Mich., she survives. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army. For many years, he worked as an auditor for Wausau Insurance Company until his retirement. He enjoyed volunteer work for the Habitat for Humanity Program and was past treasurer. Jim was a family man and loved spending time with his grandkids. Survivors include, his wife of 66 years, Marilyn Whitney, Wausau; four children, Linda (John Schilling) Vogen, Kronenwetter, Janice (Doug Kelley) Whitney, Minneapolis, Minn., Nancy (Carl Capicik) Whitney, Madison and Diane (Kevin) Roesler, Waseca, Minn.; five grandchildren, Lisa (Marc) Scanio, Ryan and Suzanne Kelley and Alanna and Alex Roesler; and three great-grandchildren, Oliver, Amelia and James Scanio. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanne Shryack, Patricia Sheptenko and Gertrude Carpenter. Funeral services will be at Noon on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Wausau. Rev. Jeffrey Olson will officiate. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services all at the church. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Wesley United Methodist Church, 1101 Elm Street, Wausau, WI 54401 or Habitat for Humanity, 500 S. 38th Avenue, Wausau, WI 54401.
