James J. Slagowski, 70, 726 Eau Claire Blvd., Wausau, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
James was born February 1, 1932 in Milwaukee, son of the late Edward and Bertha (Pehowski) Slagowski. He married Audrey Blaskowsky in Hatley on July 4, 1957. She survives.
Prior to his retirement in 1990, James was a Communication Technician at AT&T.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council, Schofield and the Central Wisconsin Polka Club. James was an avid trout fishermen, hunter and golfer, and enjoyed polka dancing.
Besides his wife, Audrey, he is survived by three children; David (Marie) Slagowski, Meridian, Idaho, and their children, Natalie and Michael Slagowski; Janet (Bruce) Bowerman, Eau Claire, and their children, Lucas and Sadie Bowerman; Diane (Perry) Greisinger, Madison, and their daughters, Greta and Gracie Greisinger; two brothers, Ralph (June) Slagowski, Crandon, Eugene (Janet) Slagowki, West Virginia; one sister, Audrey Krieser, Weston.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2002, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Weston. The Rev. David Olson will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m., Saturday at the church.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
