James "Jim" E. Seehafer, 71, Marathon, died Monday, June 6, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born May 5, 1945 in the Town of Hamburg to the late William and Loretta (Hintz) Seehafer. On November 6, 1965 he married Marlene Sommer at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski.
Jim worked for 46 A½ years at Marathon Cheese Corporation and in his spare time he enjoyed hunting and working in his yard, listening to music and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene, Marathon, sons, Randall (fiance' Julie Rodman) and Rodney, Marathon, four grandsons, Gage, Dylan, Mason and Tyler, siblings, Mary Literski, Wausau, Gerald (Elaine) Seehafer, Stevens Point, Doris Springer, Wausau, John Seehafer, Wausau and Darlene (Carl) Slagel, Birnamwood.
Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by an infant son, Russell.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a prayer service Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
