James A. Nowak
79, 1423 Burek Ave., Wausau, died Saturday March 6, 2004 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau.
He was born October 26, 1924 in Milwaukee, son of the late Julius and Verna (Martin) Nowak. On September 30, 1950 he married Joyce Krienke at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death on August 29, 1998. Prior to his retirement, James had been employed at Fort James as a forklift operator. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Marines. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and motorcycling. Special to him was the time spent with his family.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary (Robert) Bateman, Wausau, a daughter-in-law, Diane Nowak, Wausau, a grandson, Benjamin (fiance', Laura Bell) Nowak, Wausau, a sister, LaRae Johnson, Texas and a step-sister, Rosemary Kanitz, Wausau.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Nowak, a granddaughter, Sara Rose, a brother, Billy and a sister, Julie.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday March 9, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Gary Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
