James R. Mohelnitzky
Schofield and Phelps, Wisconsin, died Thursday January 13, 2011, at his home in Phelps, surrounded by family and under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.
He was born February 29, 1940, son of the late Lawrence and Agnes (Remmel) Mohelnitzky. On September 29, 1962, he married Sandra Ryan in Schofield.
James attended Wausau Neuman High School prior to entering the US Navy in August 1957 and served till active duty till November 1960. He served on the USS Plattte and was a past Post Commander of the Ringle-Hatley VFW, Member of the Marathon County Chapter of the Man of Honor Society, Weston Moose Lodge and Wausau Elks Lodge.
For 12 years, he drove semi truck for Haupt Contract Carriers. At the time of his death he was Owner and President of Ryan Manufacturing, Weston. During his time of leadership, he oversaw and implemented an expanded customer base for the family business.
He took pride in the success he brought to the family business with his over 32 years working at Ryan Manufacturing. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and attended many races with close friends. He was an avid traveler recently visiting Australia and New Zealand with his sisters Pat and Kay. Jim enjoyed summers in Northern Wisconsin with his family and friends on the lakes on his pontoon boat and also recently purchased a Harley Davidson bike and made multiple trips in Wisconsin.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Mohelnitzky, Phelps, three children, Paula (Darrell) Slizewski, Eagle River, DeeDee (Melissa) Mohelnitzky, El Paso, Tx., Kirk (Denise) Mohelnitzky, Kronenwetter, five grandchildren, Nicole (Dale) Ray, Phelps, Bryce and Pierce Mohelnitzky, Wausau, Jenny Slizewski, Rhinelander, Darren Slizewski, Conover; three great grandchildren, Kia, Skyler and Seirra; five siblings, Pat Walters, Thibodaux, La, Jack (Eleanor) Mohelnitzky, Surprise, Az., Mary (George) Buchberger, Wausau, Sue (Gerry) Garnett, Spooner, Wi, Kay (Leroy) Ostrowski, Prescott, Ariz.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday January 16, 2011 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Friends may call on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until services at the Sixth Street funeral home to be followed by an afternoon meal. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
