James R. Lang, 72, Rib Mountain, formerly of Marathon, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at his home, following a brief illness.
He was born October 16, 1953 in the Town of Cassel, son of the late Gilbert and Lucille (Waskowiak) Lang. He married the love of his life, Linda Mueller and together have celebrated 53 years of marriage.
James was a welder and painter for the steel industry in the Wausau area. He liked to attend the Edgar Steam Show with his wife, Linda, and loved John Deere Tractors. He especially looked forward to visits with his grandsons.
Survivors include, his wife, Linda; two children, Richard (Michelle) Lang, Virginia and Amy (Troy) Christiansen, Ringle; two grandsons, Lucas and Logan Lang; 12 siblings, Leonard Lang, Jeffrey (Jutta) Lang, David Lang, Michael (Jody) Lang, Patrick Lang, Carol (Glenn) Krall, Susie (Dan) Gehrke, Kathy (Lino) Nadalin, Alice (Clayton) Gore, Donna (Patrick) Mueller, Jackie (Jim) Gawenda and Cindy (Mark) Wasmundt; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Baxter.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in memory of James.
