James "Jim" Krahn
64, Wausau, died Monday, May 7, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born May 3, 1945 in Wausau, son of the late Lawrence and Arleen (Wirkus) Krahn. On August 22, 1964 he married Janet Tremel in Wausau. She survives.
For over 42 years Jim worked as a mechanic, welder and in maintenance for PDM Bridge and its previous owners. During those years he also served as president of the Local 811 Iron Workers. He was an avid outdoorsman who supported many wildlife organizations including the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and White Tails Unlimited. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, working with the Boy Scouts and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Janet, Wausau; children, Steven (Karen) Krahn, Wausau, Kristin (Jason) Fritsche, Rib Mountain and Jason Krahn, Wausau; grandchildren, Annaliese, Elizabeth and Thomas Krahn, all of Wausau, Spencer and Alyssa Fritsche, both of Rib Mountain and Makayla, Jordyn and Robert Krahn, all of Wausau; sister, Edith (Ronald) Hamers, Lake Tomahawk.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007 at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. Rev. Janusz Kowalski will preside. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
