James "Jim" E. Dahm

James "Jim" E. Dahm, 69, Wausau, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, September 21, 2026, under the care of Aspirus Home Care Hospice.

He was born November 23, 1956 in Wausau, son of the late Murill "Jake" and Eleanor "Ellie" (Wesolowski) Dahm. On September 27, 1980, he married Catherine "Cathy" Morgan in Kingsford, MI. She survives.

In his younger years, Jim worked for Wausau Homes with the set up crew and later worked for Wausau Tile for over 30 years until his retirement. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed woodworking and working as a handyman, building decks, fences and many other projects for family and friends. Most of all, he loved being a father and grandfather, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Jim receieved a double lung transplant in January of 2001 after suffering Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. He faced many medical adversities over his life. Having made it 25 years and 8 months on a single set of lungs places him among the longest lived survivors of the procedure worldwide. He had incredible care teams at the UW Madison and Wausau Apirus Hospitals, including the Hospice team. He fought valiantly and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy; three children, Michael Dahm, Brittany (Mike) Curtis and their children, Preston, Landon and Owen and Bradley (Melissa) Dahm and their children, Beau, Watson, Madelyn and one on the way; his sister, Susan (Larry) Kutschenreuter; sister-in-law, Ruthann Morts; brother-in-law, Doug (Terri) Morgan; and nephews, Jake (Jennifer) Kutschenreuter and Joe (Danielle) Kutschenreuter.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jake and Ellie Dahm; sisters Patricia Dahm and Carol Plourd; brother-in-law LeRoy Plourd; and grandparents and other relatives.

Visitation for Jim will be on Thursday October 1, 2026 beginning at 10:00AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, Wausau. The funeral Mass will follow, to be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. (Noon). Rev. Tom Lindner will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
