James A. Gwidt, 77, Wausau, died Monday, October 29, 2012 under the care of Aseracare Hospice at Wausau Manor.
He was born July 10, 1935 in Athens, son of the late John Sr. and Helen (Lake) Gwidt. On November 10, 1956 he married Sandra Auner in Wausau. She preceded him in death.
Prior to James' retirement he worked as a Salesman for Buch Equipment, Intercity Supply, and finally retiring from The Keebler Company.
Through the years, he was a Volunteer for the Town of Maine Fire Dept, a member of the Big Bull Falls Lions Club, and Trailmates Snowmobile Club.
His main focus was always his family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren (Sarah and Michael Gwidt) and their life accomplishments.
James loved playing cards, camping, sitting around Dave & Sharon's camp fire with family and friends, hunting deer, and rabbits with his dogs (Sport and Ginger). He was extremely proud of the fact that his grand daughter (Sarah) is a Nurse. He enjoyed watching short-track racing, and cheering on the Mackesy's, Larry Detgens, and his Grandson, Michael to his many feature wins and track championships. He loved Iola and old cars. He loved the family dogs (and they loved him) Cosmo, Mya, and Sadie as he always had treats for them. James had a great sense of humor and always had a funny joke or comment to make you smile.
Survivors include his son, David (Sharon) Gwidt, Wausau; daughter, Becky Wendland, Wausau; two grandchildren, Michael (Amber) Gwidt and Sarah Gwidt; great-grandson, Evan Gwidt; siblings, Robert (Cecilia) Gwidt, Schofield, Dorothy Poulis, Wausau, Lucille Reichartz, Greenfield, John (Donna) Gwidt, Tomahawk, Roger (JoAnne) Gwidt, Green Bay, Charles Gwidt, Red Granite, Gerald Gwidt, Germany, Wallace (Lila) Gwidt, Wausau, Frank (Jan) Gwidt, Wautoma and Thomas (Barbara) Gwidt, Wausau; sisters-in-law, Delores Auner, Weston and Betty Auner, Athens; and special friend, Helen.
