James Xavier Dreyer

James "Jim" Dreyer of Wausau died at Rennes Rehab in Weston on January 1st, 2014 at the age of 82.
He was born November 11, 1931 in Wausau, son of the late Henry Xavier and Celia "Cele" (nee Kiefer) Dreyer. He married Helen Claudia (nee Sobkowiak) on February 24, 1962 in Green Bay. He served stateside in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Jim attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he majored in Economics. After graduation, he began a career at the Unemployment Agency (Job Service) of Wisconsin that spanned 30 years. He worked in several cities around the State until transferring back to Wausau in 1973.
Upon retirement in 1990, he and Helen enjoyed travel, including many winter retreats to Fort Myers, Florida and a 10-day road trip up the ALCAN Highway in 1996.
Jim was a member of St. Michael Parish in Wausau for 40 years.
Over the years, he enjoyed attending church, working on and around his home, golf games with his buddies at the American Legion, and fishing. He was a loving husband and father, and enjoyed many happy times with his family and extended family.
Survivors include his wife Helen, son Thomas Dreyer and daughter Kathryn Hedtke. Jim has two granddaughters, Sarah Dreyer and Grace Hedtke. Several nieces and nephews also survive him. Two brothers, Mark and Bill Dreyer, and a sister, Rosemary Conrad, preceded him in death.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 6th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Wausau. Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Interment will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery in Wausau. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
