James "Jim" G. Corda
75, Wausau, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born April 23, 1935 in Wausau, son of the late Edward and Clara (Wilichowski) Corda. On November 30, 1963, he married Phyllis Mae at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Jim was a veteran of the United States Marines, serving as staff sergeant from 1954 until 1957. For 40 years, he worked as a cable splicer for the former General Telephone Company in Merrill and Wausau until his retirement. Among his favorite pastimes, Jim enjoyed water skiing in his younger years, boating and polkas. He had a kind soul and a big heart and always enjoyed helping his neighbors, friends or whoever was in need of assistance with yardwork, shoveling snow and errands. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Phyllis Corda, Wausau; four children, Wendy (Scott) Fredrich, Gleason, Luke Corda, Madison, Larry (John Altenhofen) Corda, Milwaukee and Rob Corda, Wausau; five grandchildren, Breigh (Shawn) Voigt, Nathan (Jessica) Hoff, Chelsey (Darrin) Schleif, Matt Fredrich and Megan Fredrich; five great grandchildren, Ivan and Ashley Voigt, Nolan and Isabella Hoff and Rylee Fredrich; four siblings, Jerry Corda, Honolulu, Hawaii, Marie (Jack) Curtis, Sonoma, Cal., Marion (Jack) Altenhofen, Marathon and Al (Gayle) Corda, Elk Mound; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Corda.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau.
