Ivan N. Ruplinger, 86, Marathon, passed away Saturday February 28, 2015 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born April 9, 1928 in Marathon City, son of the late Roman and Mildred (Hornung) Ruplinger. On August 5, 1953, he married Janice Ziegel in Marathon. She survives.
From 1950-1952, Ivan served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was a life-member of the VFW Burns Post #388 and the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10.
Prior to his retirement, Ivan worked in the maintenance department at Kraft Foods. Among his favorite things to do were fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He made many things for family and friends and greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Brandon, teaching him his woodworking skills. Ivan and his wife enjoyed many trips to Branson, Phoenix, Canada, and Hawaii. He also loved to play cards with his special friends.
On October 22, 2012 he was able to make the Never Forgotten Honor Flight to Washington D.C., this was a highlight of his later years.
Survivors include his wife, Janice, Marathon; daughter Gail (Larry) Stencil, Luck, WI; grandson Brandon, Luck, WI; and one sister Jean Ruplinger, CA.
Besides his parents, Ivan is preceded in death by his brothers, Wyman and Lavern Ruplinger.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 7, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Monsignor Joseph Diermeier will preside. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the exceptional care they provided to Ivan. They would also like to thank Father Joe and Peter for their many visits with Ivan at his home.
