Irene Catherine Stieber, 82, Marathon, was welcomed into heaven on January 5, 2012.
She was born April 15, 1929, in the town of Rietbrock, daughter of the late Vincent and Catherine (Feltzkowski) Writz. On May 9, 1951, she was united in marriage to Rudolph Stieber at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski.
Irene along with her husband Rudy, owned and operated the Stieber family Dairy farm in Marathon, working side by side from sun up to sun set and enjoying every minute of it. Irene took great pleasure and satisfaction from planting and tending to her huge vegetable and flower gardens every year. Irene demonstrated her love for the Lord and her family by her devotion to the work of being a wife and mother. Irene was also a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marathon.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband of 60 years, Rudolph; four children, Allan Stieber, Owen, Susan (Fred) Huebsch, Rib Falls, Patty (Harley) Dallman, Rib Falls, Linda (Peter) Quartararo, Rosedale, Maryland; four granddaughters, Shelly (Hector) Pintor, Amber Behnke, Amanda and Sarah Behnke, one grandson, Jon Knaup; two great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Hector Pintor; three sisters, Agnes Heil, Julia (Earl) Braun and Lucille (Norbert) Rauen, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Cihlar and brothers, Aloise and Edmund Writz.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at Noon Monday January 9, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Marathon funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary School, Marathon.

The family expresses their appreciation for the extraordinary warmth and excellent care shown to Irene by the staff at the Marathon Assisted Living and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services over the past two and a half years.
She will be greatly missed, but we rejoice in the strong faith God gave her and look forward to seeing her again in heaven.
