Irene Sternberg

Irene Sternberg 89, 1010 E. Wausau Avenue, Wausau died Monday, August 20, 2001 under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. Irene was born March 13, 1912, Town of Easton, daughter of the late Henry and Julie (Hansen) Vaughn. She married Clarion "Bob" Sternberg October 1, 1945 in Elkader, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1999. Irene was a fly tier at Marathon Bait Company and then a homemaker. Survivors include three sisters, Audrey (Ben) Westby, Orlando, Fla., Crystal Johnston, Minneapolis, Minn. and Gladys Majaeski, St. Paul, Minn. and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau. Rev. Donald Baumann will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the 6th Street funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Irene's name is being established.
