Irene B. Nievinski
88, Pike Lake, died Tuesday July 6, 2010 at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Weston.
She was born February 23, 1922, in the town of Reid, daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (Buchkowski) Rozmarynowski. On October 25, 1941, she married Leon Nievinski at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent. He preceded her in death.
Prior to her marriage, Irene was a housekeeper in Stevens Point and after her marriage to Leon, they farmed in the town of Reid until 1972 when they purchased and operated "Leon & Irene's Up the Hill Bar" in Pike Lake. After their retirement in 1977, Irene kept active waitressing for weddings, working in the Shang gardens and tending bar. Among her favorite things to do were crocheting for family and friends, traveling, card club and playing bingo.
Survivors include her three daughters, Lorraine (Raymond) Check, Elaine (Robert) Filtz, all of Shantytown, LeeAnn (Mike) Budleski, Hatley, nine grandchildren, Leon, Allen and Kevin Check, Sheila Reichert, Curtis & Brian Filtz, Beckie Gizzi, Nicholas Jensen, Jenny Netzel, two step grandchildren, Aimee Budleski and Kari Wierzba, 11 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, one brother, Joseph (Carol) Rozmarynowski, Antigo and her special friend, Orville Lodholz.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Ernest Rozmarynowski, two sisters, Lucille Dallman and Frances Narlock.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. Friday July 9, 2010 at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. Rev. Jerzy Rebacz will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time services at the church.
