Irene A. Lang

Irene A. Lang 92, Wausau, died Friday, February 6, 2009 at Wellington Place, Wausau. She was born October 10, 1916 in Wausau, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Kuharski) Pergalski. On October 9, 1937 she married Dr. George Thoma. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1963. She then married Hugo Lang on September 19, 1969. He also preceded her in death on November 16, 1977. Irene was the millinery manager at Winkleman's Department Store for many years. She was also a dental assistant, a bookkeeper for Lang Pump Co. and also worked at the former Tackle Box Sport Shop. Irene kept an active lifestyle. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, the Ladies Council, NAIM Widows Club, 1000 hour Hospital Volunteer and also enjoyed helping out with elections. Irene was also a member of the pastoral care volunteers and the Catholic Women's Club. Survivors include three step children, Nancy Lang, Missouri and Bob (Terri) Lang and Randy (Janelle) Lang, both of Wausau, eight grandchildren, Jeff, Kevin, Rachel, Eric, Staci, Joy, Cory and Jesse, nine great grandchildren, one niece, Beverly Vicker, Indiana, two great nieces, Katherine Vicker and Laura Przbylinski along with many step nieces and nephews. She is further survived by six sisters-in-law, Dolores Lang, Viola Lang, Stella Cortright, Isabella Misudek, Evelyn Lang and Patricia Lang, two brothers-in-law, Fred Lang and Ernest Pozorski and her close friend Joyce Drage, Wausau. Besides her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by three brothers, Florian, Stanley and Daniel and two sisters, Alice Wieman and Margaret Pergalski and one niece, Shirley Drage. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2009 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon.
