Irene K. Burnett

Irene K. Burnett, 97, formerly of Rothschild, died peacefully Saturday December 10, 2016 at the Aspirus Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 16, 1919, in Dancy, daughter of the late Ralph and Mathilda (Gardner) Gehring Sr. On January 27, 1945, she married Dale E. Burnett Sr. at Salem Lutheran Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death September 19, 2008. For many years, Irene had been employed in the meat department at the original 29 Supermarket, Wausau. In her earlier years, she and Dale enjoyed bowling and traveling to different states to golf. Flower gardening, watching the birds and doing Search a Words were favorite pastime activities. Special to Irene were the times spent with her family. She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, a beloved mother and a special grandma and great grandma. Survivors include her children, Marilyn (Bob) Worden, Mosinee, Dale Jr. (Cathy) Burnett, Rothschild, Ron (Sherry) Burnett, Weston, Jeff (Micki) Burnett, Wausau, seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one brother, Ralph Gehring, Appleton and one sister, Pearl Kunz, Appleton. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Burnett and four sisters, Arlene Mackin, Marcy Kobs, Dorothy Gehring and Lucille Sprague. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday December 14, 2016 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Schofield. Rev. Ray Connor will officiate. Entombment will be in Garden of Eternal Rest Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund for the Hospice House is being established in care of the family. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements.
