Ida Heckendorf
89, Athens, died Sunday, June 19, 2005 at Colonial Manor Medical & Rehabilitation Center, Wausau.
She was born May 3, 1916 in Athens, daughter of the late Gustave and Marie (Burkholz) Heldt. On October 23, 1943, she married Herbert Heckendorf at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1948.
Ida was a teacher, dairy farmer, caregiver, gardener and a loving mother. Her hobbies were doing crossword & jigsaw puzzles. Ida participated in the Athens Fair for over 60 years with her vegetables and flowers, and received a ribbon for Best of Show. She loved her family and will always be remembered by her grandchildren as "Cookie Grandma".
Survivors include two daughters, Marge (Gene) Berg, Midland, N.C. and Joyce (Jerry) Ferguson, San Antonio, Texas; one son, Robert (Sue) Heckendorf, Athens; four grandchildren, Bryan Berg, Harrisburg, N.C., Jerod Berg, Concord, N.C., Bradley (DeAnna Staudacher) Heckendorf, Menomonie and Melanie (Brian) Pierzchalski, Stevens Point; one step great granddaughter & special puzzle setting buddy, Suzi Staudacher; longtime friend, Willy Mittelstaedt, Marshfield.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by Walter "Wally" Heckendorf in 1996.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. Rev. Donn Radde will officiate. Burial will be in the Athens Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of services at the church.
There will be an 8:30 p.m. scripture service Thursday evening at the Athens funeral home.
