Hugo R. Seubert Jr.
80, Marathon, died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.
He was born July 14, 1930 in Marathon, son of the late Hugo Sr. and Sophie (Michlig) Seubert. On August 27, 1951, he married Joyce Wagner at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2007.
Hugo was a dairy farmer his entire life and also worked for Hanz Construction. He was a member of the Marathon County Board, the Marathon School Board and was town chairman and supervisor for the Cassel township. He was also a member of the Farm Progress Days Committee and the Marathon School District Foundation. Among his favorite pastimes, Hugo enjoyed playing cards, baking goods for his family and friends and following Marathon School sporting events. Hugo was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Survivors include 11 children, Ken Seubert, Dan (Sue) Seubert, Janice (Eugene) Pilgrim, all of Marathon, Sandy (Brad) Lewitzke, Weston, Matt (Lauri) Seubert, Rodney (Mary Lou) Seubert, Gary (Pam) Seubert, Chris (Brenda) Seubert, Randy (Sherri) Seubert, Russell (Kim) Seubert and Jackie (Kip) Hanke, all of Marathon; 36 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Ann) Seubert, Marathon; one sister, Joyce Nikolai, Neenah; five sisters-in-law, Arlene (Edwin Jr.) Volhard, Marathon, Grace (Jerry) Brickner, Marathon, Dorothy Klumpyan, Fond du Lac, Lucy (Jim) Sorenson, Madison and Mary (Jeff) Flaminio, Mosinee; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, Joyce, he was preceded in death by one brother, LaVerne Seubert; one sister, Mary Seubert; and one brother-in-law, Harold Nikolai.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the church and again on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Hugo's name.
