Hildegard J. Rader

Hildegard Julia Rader, 97, of Marathon, passed away at 10:54 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Copperleaf in Marathon, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born April 30, 1919, in the Town of Cassel, the first of 13 children to Ignatz and Margaret (Dalsky) Lang. She married Herbert Rader on September 9, 1940 in Marathon. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1993. Mrs. Rader attended school in Marathon and farmed with her husband until 1956, when they moved into Marathon. She worked at Marathon Cheese and at Pauley Cheese in Wausau for 25 years, retiring in 1981. Mrs. Rader was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the National Catholic Society of Foresters. She was a former president of the National Catholic Society of Foresters and served as Junior Director for many years. Mrs. Rader enjoyed playing cards, making quilts, putting jigsaw puzzles together, reading, many crafts and watching WWE Wrestling on TV. She enjoyed spending time with her family and baby-sitting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Rader was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Gilbert, Harold, Hugo, Reuben, Reinhold, and Ralph Lang; three sisters, Rosemary Lang, Norma Edwards and Margie Wilichowski; and one grandson, Scott Zernicke. She is survived by four daughters, LuAnn (Alfred) Mohr of Marathon, Joyce (Martin) Zernicke of Wausau, Barbara Booth of Madison, and Beverly (Larry) Hoffman of Springfield, IL; one brother, LeRoy (Janice) Lang of Marathon; two sisters, Florence Matushak and Ruth (Harold) Butalla of Marathon; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Lang of Marathon and Geraldine Lang of Wausau; one brother-in-law, Burwyn Edwards of Stillwater, MN; nine grandchildren, Pat (Kris) Mohr, Mike (Laurie) Mohr, Steve Mohr, Barbara (Mike) Mohr-Borchardt, Linda (Ken) Hanke, Lori (Rob) Von Alten, Boyd (Wendy) Booth, Justin (Gabby) Booth, and Matt (Amy) Kaydus; 13 great-grandchildren, Jenna (fiancAC. Brian Miller) Rennie, Brittany (Laurie) Zelenka and Kaylee (Luke Peterson) Hanke, Austin and Hiatt Von Alten, Kari, Katie, Jacob, Rebecca and Grace Mohr, Madison and Abigail Borchardt, and Spencer Booth; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Monday, August 29, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sally Borth, the staff at Copperleaf in Marathon and the staff at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the wonderful care, support and compassion given to Hildegard.
