Hilda Ida Kniess

Hilda I. Kniess 95, Wausau, died Monday, August 20, 2007 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home. She was born April 5, 1912 in town of Maine, daughter of the late Frank and Augusta (Imm) Saeger. On May 27, 1933 she married Herman Kniess at Grace Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1997. Hilda was a homemaker who farmed with her husband in the town of Hamburg until 1951 when she moved to Kenosha for a year. She returned to Hamburg and farmed for another 20 years and also worked for Fromm Brothers. Survivors include her two daughters, Joyce Fehlhaber, Wausau and Jelvadine (Gerald) Dalum, Texas; son, Roger (Margie) Kniess, Wausau; 15 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sandi Kniess and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Herman, she was preceded in death by a son, Duane and an infant daughter, 3 grandchildren, four sisters, Ella Schulz, Lydia Schulz, Nina Schmidt and Viola Zastrow, one brother, Walter Saeger and a son-in-law, Lawrence Fehlhaber. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2007 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Bruce Lamont will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, town of Hamburg. Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 pm. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave, Wausau, and again on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
