Hilda A. Dallman

Hilda A. Dallman 85, Rib Falls, died Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. She was born November 1, 1922 in the town of Corning, daughter of the late William and Elsie (Wagner) Baumann. Hilda was born into an age of horses and wagons, and very few motorized vehicles. She often spoke of walking several miles to school and catechism classes as a child. As a teenager, Hilda worked as a baker for a logging camp. On November 4, 1938, she married Gustave E. Dallman in the town of Corning. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1958. The Lord blessed their marriage with two daughters, Merceda and Phyllis and three sons, Larry, Dennis and Harlan. Hilda was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rib Falls for 60 years. She worked for the Fromm Brothers in Hamburg, working with mink and ginseng. For many years, she also worked for the Marathon District Public Schools in the kitchen, cafeteria and as a custodian. Among her many interests, she enjoyed reading, needle point, crocheting and gardening, both flowers and vegetables. She also had the pleasure of having "Princess" , her devoted Pekinese for 14 years. Hilda will never be forgotten. Her strong faith in the Lord was an inspiration to all and gave her strength during her last years. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and often said that the sparkle in her eyes came from the times that she spent with them. Survivors include, one daughter, Phyllis (Donald) Procknow, Marathon; three sons, Larry Dallman, Wausau, Dennis (Karen) Dallman, Edgar and Harlan (Patty) Dallman, Rib Falls; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Alvin Dallman, Wausau; and one sister-in-law, Bernadine Dallman, Wausau. Besides her parents and husband, Gustave, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Merceda; one grandson, Kyle Dallman; two sisters, Ruth Messerschmidt and Viola Olmsted; three brothers, Leonard, Gerhardt and Arnold Baumann; and one daughter-in-law, Darlene Dallman Funeral services will be at Noon Friday December 28, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church, Rib Falls. Rev. Terry Reich will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Rib Falls. Friends may call Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
