Herbert J. Hoffman

Herbert J. Hoffman 95, Wausau, died Friday, January 5, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Wausau. He was born August 6, 1911 in Marathon City, son of the late Henry and Lolma (Nolden) Hoffman. On September 4, 1948 he married Helen Voeltner. She survives. Herbert served in the Army during World War II and was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post No. 388, Wausau. For many years he worked at Marathon Battery as foreman and inspector. He enjoyed the outdoors especially spending time at his cabin up north. Survivors include his wife, Helen, Wausau; sister-in-law, Florence Hoffman, Wausau and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Cooper and Loriane Heesacker; two brothers, Leander and Elmer Hoffman. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2007 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon where full military honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 388. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 - 7 p.m. and again on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the funeral home. Online condolences at www.petersonkraemer.com
