Herbert H. Braunel, 95, Marathon, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born July 21, 1919 in Wausau, son of the late Edward and Louisa (Alhquist) Braunel.
Herb lived his entire life on the family homestead. He ran the family farm for many years, after taking it over from his parents. Later in life, Herb was the Marathon County Assessor and also worked fixing televisions and raising mink.
Herb was a gifted craftsman and made many wonderful woodcarvings for family and friends. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by eight sisters, Hilda, Carrie, Ester, Selma, Ruth, Millie, Elsie and Arletta; and seven brothers, Edwin, Rueben, Henry, Norman, Raymond, Walter and Wilmer.
Funeral services will be at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Marathon. Rev. Jon Hadler will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until time of services at the church.
