Wausau- Henry J. Frodl, 87, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, while under the care of Interim Hospice on Monday, December 7, 2020.
He was born June 18, 1933 in Stratford, to Henry F. and Clara (Nikolai) Frodl Sr. In 1935, he survived the Black Fever, which took the lives of two of his brothers. From 1952 to 1955 he was enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict as a cook and a mechanic. On October 15, 1960 he married the love of his life, Pat Linn, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Adams-Friendship.
Henry took the most pride in his family and his work. For over 40 years, he owned and operated Henry Frodl Excavating. He poured himself into his work and would often take walks on his land enjoying the beauty that God created. He had a passion for utilizing the land he was given and would often make maple syrup and harvest food from his garden. His hobbies also included tapping his foot to the Big Joe Polka show, joking around with his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, salvaging, playing a multitude of musical instruments by ear, taking the occasional trip to the casino, and making the family his famous spaghetti.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Frodl; his children, Karen (Eugene Draeger) Frodl of Merrill, Susan (Kenneth) Martin of Holmen, and Jeff (ReNae Juedes) Frodl of Wausau. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Baumann, Mark (Aleashia Feehrer) Baumann, Chris Baumann, Danielle (Kyle Ammerman) Martin, Sydnie (Josh Bolden) Martin, Kimberly (Tom Borta) Soukup, Tyler Frodl, Abby (Brad Wolff) Frodl , Shailyn (Kaden Radtke) Frodl and one great grandchild on the way, Aven Henry. He is further survived by his siblings, Florence Wagner of Minnesota, Dorothy (John) Matis of Wisconsin, Adeline Wagner of Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Clara Wisniewski, Marie Boone, Joe, George, Norbert and John Frodl.
Public visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Wausau, WI. A Private Family Memorial Mass will follow with the Rev. Samuel Martin presiding. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Henry’s name.
