Henrietta K. Benson, 71, Hatley, died April 4, 2014 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at her home.
She was born July 9, 1942 in Minnesota, daughter of Katherine (Koenig) Johnson and the late Edwin Johnson. In 1964 she married Jerome Benson, who preceded her in death.
Henrietta held several jobs throughout her life including being a lead cook at Danny's Gyros and Angelo's Pizza followed by a wire cable assembler at Schofield Enterprises. Among her many hobbies she enjoyed gardening, reading, and collecting, especially items such as Betty Boop memorabilia, bottles, and tin knick knacks. She was also a well-known face at Log Cabin restaurant and liked an occasional trip to the casino.
Survivors include her mother, Katherine Johnson, Wausau, children, Edward (Lucille) Benson, Weston, Keith (Keum) Benson, Hatley, Amy (Jim) McTavish, Glyndon, Minnesota, Kristine (fiancAC. Tim Becker) Benson, Merrill; grandchildren, Catherine (DJ Rheault) Radke, Keith Benson Jr., Liz (Chris) Stang, Michael Benson, Jacob (Kayla) and Kory (Madison) Scheel, Brittany, Cody, Brandon, and Cassandra Benson; step-grandchildren, Skarlette Scheel and Leala Newland; great-grandchildren, Benson Stang and one on the way; brothers, Jerry (Marsha) Johnson, San Antonio, Texas, Donald (Jan) Johnson, Phelps, Richard (Dorothy) Johnson, Tyler, Texas and David (Carol) Johnson, Philippines; sisters, Mary (Tom) Schepp, Hazelhurst, Rose (Tom) LeMay, Eau Claire, Margaret (Dan) Strehlow and Sharon (Gary) Boushley, both of Weston, many nieces and nephews.
Besides her father and husband, Jerome, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Scheel.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. Rev. Roy Witucki will preside. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
