Helene Held

Helene Held 98, formerly of Edgar, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home. She was born July 10, 1904 in Makarov, Russia, daughter of the late Willheim and Adelena Winter. On May 1st, 1920, she married Herman Held in Berlin, Germany. He preceded her in death. Helene along with her husband farmed in the Edgar area. Survivors include six daughters, Elizabeth (George) Pokrant, Rockford, Ill, Dorothy Boardingham, San Antonio, Texas, Clara (Harold) Finger, Wausau, Adeline Hutson, San Antonio, Texas, Jenny Ray, Victorville, Calif. and Darlene Brodjeski, Kenosha; four sons, Robert (Joanie) Held, Columbus, Ohio, Paul (Mae) Held, Wisconsin Rapids, Oscar Held, Edgar and Orville Held, Rothschild; 38 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; two daughter-in-laws, Shirley Held, Madison and Sylvia Held, Hazelhurst. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Irvin and Ernest; one granddaughter; one great grandson; four sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2003 at the Athens Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in the Athens Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Athens Cemetery Association or the Athens Assembly of God Church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens is in charge of arrangements.
