Helen M. Urmanski

Helen M. Urmanski 98, town of Rietbrock, died Monday, January 24, 2011 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Marywood Center, Wausau. She was born March 1, 1912 in the town of Rietbrock, daughter of the late John and Martha (Retka) Pietrowski. On May 21, 1929, she married Joseph Urmanski at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1999. Helen, along with her husband, Joe, farmed in the town of Rietbrock until their retirement. She had many interests in life, especially spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, making crafts, playing cards and an occasional trip to the casino. She was a member of the St. John PCCW and was involved in many church activities. Survivors include, two daughters, Patricia (George) Niewolny, Wausau and Helen Paul, Wausau; three sons, Richard (Jeanette) Urmanski, Edgar, James (Rita) Urmanski, Edgar and Francis (Geri) Urmanski, Tomahawk; 19 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Kremsreiter, Athens, Anna Zienert, Edgar and Theresa Felzkowski, Athens; and several step-great grandchildren and step-great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Joseph, she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Urmanski; one daughter-in-law, Elsie Urmanski; one granddaughter, Debra Rodda; four sisters, Mary Wentzka, Alvina Pempek, Leona Albrecht and Frances Koppa; and seven brothers, Alex, Leo, Edward, Joseph, John, Francis and Michael Pietrowski. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Edgar. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at church and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar is in charge of arrangements.
