Helen K. Slewitzke

Helen K. Slewitzke, 86, Wausau, died Sunday, February 29, 2004 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. She was born February 23, 1918 in Knowlton, daughter of the late Martin and Anna (Knefel) Dvorak. On September 25, 1943 she married Thomas Slewitzke at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Knowlton. He survives. Helen was a homemaker and active member of Holy Name Parish, Wausau. She was a member of St. Catherine Council, various circles, worked funeral mass luncheons as well as other church activities. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Slewitzke, Wausau, one son Ronald (Valerie) Slewitzke, Aurora, Ill., one daughter, Mary (Jeff) Williams, Wausau; three grandchildren, Shannon Slewitzke, Champaign, Ill., Tim Slewitzke, Iowa City, Iowa and Matt Slewitzke, Davenport, Iowa; one brother, Joseph (Sharon) Dvorak, Knowlton, one sister, Florence Kees, Wausau and one sister-in-law Eva Dvorak, Plover. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Walter and Stanley Dvorak and a brother-in-law, Clarence Kees. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. Joesph Gyim-Austin will preside. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Wausau. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. There will be a combined St. Catherine Council and Parish rosary service Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the sixth street funeral home. The family would like to thank Comfort Care and Hospice Services, Dr. Ahuja, Dr. Kaupie, Fr. Joe, Fr. Lynch and Fr. Cyril for the care and concern they extended to Helen during her illness.
