Helen D. Scholfield
90, Wausau and Minocqua, died Thursday, October 26, 2006.
She was born January 30, 1916 in Helena, Montana, daughter of the late George and Gertrude (Harger) Diamond. On November 3, 1945 she married Charles S. Scholfield in Long Beach, California. He preceded her in death in July 1988.
Through the years, Helen had been very involved in many Wausau organizations and civic groups. She was a volunteer at the YWCA since 1947 where she served the Youth Team Group and was a past member of the Board of Directors, also serving as president for two years. In 1974 she received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America and was a volunteer and Board member for over 29 years. She logged many hours of volunteer duty for Wausau Hospital and served on the former Hospital Government Committee. She served on the Board of Directors of the Marathon County Humane Society, the Wausau Conservatory of Music and the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum.
She is survived by her sister Lucy Gash, Kansas City, her children Constance Scholfield, Bloomington, Min., William (Debbie) Scholfield, Wausau, Charles "Win" (Carolyn) Scholfield, Grosse Pointe Park, Mic. and three grandchildren Charles, Danielle and Catherine.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Sixth Street funeral home. The family will receive friends on Saturday following the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Boy Scouts of America Samoset Council, The Leigh Yawkey-Woodson Art Museum or The Humane Society of Marathon County.
