HELEN C. SCHLAIS 94, formerly of 914 S. 9th Avenue, Wausau, died Sunday, August 19, 2001 under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. Helen was born January 21, 1907 in Lynn, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Theodore and Lena (Klein) Feldmaier. She married James Schlais June 28, 1932 in Wausau. He preceded her in death May 22, 1972 Helen was employed as a secretary at H. Phillips Company until 1943, and then became a homemaker. Survivors include 1 daughter, Carol Geiger, Wausau, 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Karen) Geiger, Shoreview, Minn., Michael (Tracy) Geiger, Wausau, Kari (fiancAC. Chris) Geiger, Rothschild, Steven Schlais, California, and Christine (William) Lawrie, Merrill, 4 great-grandchildren, Natalie Geiger, Rebecca Geiger and Tyler Geiger, all of Wausau, and Brianna Lawrie, Merrill, 1 sister-in-law, Marie Feldmaier, Mountain Home, Ark., and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, James Schlais and her parents, Helen was preceded in death by 1 son, Terry Schlais, 1 grandson, Terry Geiger, 1 sister, Margaret, Schneck, 1 brother, Leonard Feldmaier, and 1 son-in-law, Donald Geiger. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. John Parr will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau is in charge of the arrangements.
