Helen A. Kemp

Helen A. Kemp 93, Wausau, died peacefully in her sleep, Thursday November 15, 2007 at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Weston. She was born April 3, 1914, in Francis Creek, daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Neuser) Leiterman. On January 11, 1932, she married Herbert J. Kemp in Marathon. He preceded her in death October 9, 1998. During her working years, Helen had been employed at Marathon Rubber Products and later at the Sears Store for several years. In 1951, Helen and her husband, Herb, started Kemp Service Station at 2202 North Sixth Street, Wausau. Helen was bookkeeper at the station for the 18 years they were in the business. They retired in 1969 at which time they built a home on Silver Lake near Tomahawk where they resided until 1982. Helen and Herb were members of St. Michael Catholic Church. Helen was a 50 year member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters, a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women and a member of Ladies Group Three. Through the years, Helen kept busy with craft work, crocheting and gardening. She also loved to play cards. She enjoyed all of her grand children and great grandchildren and loved to have them visit her. Survivors include a son, Roger (Mary Ann) Kemp, Wausau, four grandchildren, Kathryn (David) Kemp-Bohan, Chicago, Ill., Craig Kemp, Milwaukee, Pamela Coffey, Wausau, Steve (Colleen) Kemp, Wausau, eight great grandchildren, Phillip Bohan, Christopher, Katelyn Kemp, Jason, Joshua Coffey, Keith, Brooklyn, Brynna Kemp. Besides her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by a grandson, Keith Kemp, three sisters, Regina Busko, Sylvia Leonhardt, Adeline O'Keefe and five brothers, Herbert, Elmer, Erwin, Edwin and Raymond Leiterman. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 21, 2007 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Tueday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau and again on Weds. from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
