Harry Kent Nordquist

Harry Kent Nordquist Jr. 55, Wausau and Presque Isle, died Weds. January 12, 2011 at UW Hospital, Madison. He was born October 28, 1955, in Chicago, son of Bernadine (Wojtanowicz) Nordquist, Wausau and the late Harry K. Nordquist Sr. Harry attended Madison Area Technical College and received a degree in tax accounting. He will be remembered for his personality and many special talents. He was an excellent Blackjack dealer and had been employed at Lake of the Torches Casino, Lac du Flambeau. Excellent is the best description for his skill in pool playing as he was a much sought after as a sub and had been a team member for the Cruise In. He was a longtime member of the Presque Isle Team Retreat Musky Club and also served as their president. In August 2010, he served as Grand Marshall of the Presque Isle Fireman's Picnic Parade and supported various fundraising activities for their fire department as well. Packer's football was a huge part of Harry's life and he especially enjoyed talking football with his friends and participating in pools. Through the years, Harry battled Cystic Fibrosis. He and his family had great admiration and respect for a young man named Matthew Watson. Through Matthew's gift of organ donation, Harry was able to receive a much needed double lung transplant in 1996. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Bernadine (Art) Schalow-Verick, Wausau and Presque Isle, his sister, Cynthia (Robert) Hodson, Menasha, a niece and nephew, Eric and Melissa Hodson, as well as many other relatives and friends. Besides his father, Harry K. Nordquist Sr., Harry is preceded in death by a brother, Christopher G. Nordquist, his paternal grandparents, Bertil and Mildred Nordquist and an uncle, Richard B. Nordquist. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday January 17, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Gary Schultz will officiate. Spring burial will be in the Presque Isle Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
