Harold G. Theis Sr.
86, rural Marathon City, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home.
He was born December 7, 1918 in the town of Stettin, son of the late Harry and Theresa (Lilly) Theis. On July 20, 1946, he married Alice Mearek at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Stettin. She preceded him in death on September 5, 1983.
Harold served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre and fought in the Battle of the Bulge with the Second Armored Division.
He was a self-employed carpenter forming Theis and Ohrmundt Construction. His partner, Charles Ohrmundt preceded him in death. Following his retirement, he farmed with his son, Harold Jr.
Survivors include, three children, Nancy (Bill) Buttke, Marathon, Harold (Sharon) Theis Jr., Marathon and Chuck (Barbara) Theis, Mauston; five grandchildren, Mike (Jayme) Buttke, Fitchburg, Matt Buttke, Wausau, Joe (Julie) Theis, Weston, Becky Theis, Ramsey, Minn. and Sara Theis, Mauston; and four siblings, Norman (Erna) Theis, Wausau, Gladys LaHaye, South Milwaukee, Donald (Bernice) Theis, Hazelhurst and Robert Theis, Wausau.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2005 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, town of Stettin. Rev. Clarence Gall will officiate. Burial will be in the Stettin Christian Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
